Knock Knock....Housekeeping!

Newborn laundry is sweet. Painless even. Everything is tiny and smells so lovingly like gentle, sensitive-skin detergent. You are grateful to fold that laundry because your infant is here. Toddler laundry is also not bad. It's still small and cute and takes about as much time to fold as a lap around the house with them. The money is in sizes S (6 -7) and now M (8). Money as in it's a full-time job and you don't get paid for a damn bit of it. The clothes are now half your size - socks permanently look like they were in a foot race in the mud sans shoes and you're not told when something was spilled that won't come out without some sort of effort. By this time, there are now multiple kids. So double the laundry. Triple even! Because you still have to do yours. Every week, every month, every year.

I pick up the house every night. Now my kids are old enough to pick up after themselves, loosely speaking. After I've asked 789346768 times. Side note: picking up after themselves is one of the bonuses of them growing. Also accompanied by wiping their own butts and brushing their own teeth. Buuuuut there were times when I was picking up all the things. And these times compound those times. It's fine. I'm fine. We're all fine.

Lest I also forget about all the meals I make (a minimum of 1,092 a year), plus the "Can I have a snack??" request that occurs no less than 5 times a day, ev-er-y day. I just want to sit down. And stare at a wall. I want a dark, quiet, secluded corner of the house (that doesn't exist btw) where no one bothers me for 20 minutes. Am I complaining? Maybe a little. Am I tired? 100% Would I trade any of this if it meant not having my children? Never in a million years. I do have breaks. There are far less Man, I didn't sign up for this-es than I love you so much, I could hold you forever-es. They are beautiful and this life with them is beautiful. But it'd be great if sometimes robot arms would take care of all this while I sat on the couch and read (and didn't feel guilty) every once in a while.
